Caroline Flint MP, Labour's Europe Minister, today visited major development projects in Hastings which, through EU and SEEDA funding, are continuing to boost life into the town despite the current recession.
Sea Space, the economic development company for Hastings and Bexhill, received received £7 million of South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) funding for the South Queensway Enviro21 Innovation Park, which will provide an environmentally-friendly business development targeted at companies at the cutting edge of environmental technology. £2.14 million in EU funding was also received for Lacuna Place in the town centre Priory Quarter office development.
Caroline Flint, Labour's Europe Minister said: "I celebrate the fact that the government are channelling EU funding through SEEDA into places like Hastings. Queensway Enviro 21 Innovation Park is especially significant as new the development will attract green jobs. Through these economic challenges, the government wants to look to the future and believes that a low carbon economy will create the jobs of the future."
